    The Master in Management (MiM), Financial Economics track, also known as "Grande Ecole," is a two-year academic programme, taught entirely in English. It is designed to provide you with the academic background and competencies required for an international career in finance.

    Our flagship programme, the EDHEC Master in Management (Grande Ecole) programme awards graduate-level students and young professionals a Master in Management degree with the opportunity to complete a Master of Science. The programme benefits from its close ties with leading companies and the valued support of its Corporate Programme Sponsors and Academic Partners: CFA Institute, Global Association of Risk Professionals (GARP), PricewaterhouseCoopers, MINES ParisTech, and Société Générale.

    The Master in Management (MiM), Financial Economics will appeal to you if you are a self-motivated learner with high intellectual capacity, with a first degree in a numerate discipline, wishing to have an international career in finance. You will acquire the fundamental knowledge and technical competencies in finance valued by employers.

    The MIM FE (Master in Management, Financial Economics) is a CFA Partner programme. The partnership with the CFA Institute, the world’s largest association of investment professionals, provides access to various on-campus CFA resources and you can prepare for the CFA Level I, a professional diploma, whilst completing your degree.

    This partnership gives a strong indication of the close ties between EDHEC and the industry and further emphasises the quality of EDHEC programmes and their relevance to business. Its broad curriculum gives equal attention to corporate finance and capital markets and allows participants to develop expertise in corporate financial strategy, investment banking, financial accounting, reporting and analysis, risk management; and equity and fixed income portfolio management. CFA curriculum textbooks are used as core programme readings to maximise participants' industry readiness

    Upon completion of the Master in Management (MiM), Financial Economics track you will master all of the specific knowledge, abilities and personal attributes required for success in life in the business world. Graduates of the programme are innovative thinkers who can easily adapt to change and excel in complex situations.

    Year 1 : Sept . 2021 − May 2022

    Master 1 - Foundation Year

    You will learn the fundamentals of finance through academic coursework and will have constant interaction with business executives. You will gain the technical competencies required for your mandatory internships.

    Year 2 : June 2022 − Aug 2023

    Your professional immersion or exchange programmes

    Work experience is a crucial step towards employment: many students find their current positions as a result of their internships. This experience is also an opportunity to reflect on your choice of specialisation in year 3. On completion of your internships between year 1 and year 3, you will have the opportunity to complete one of the five Master of Science offered by EDHEC.

    The objective of this course is to provide a solid grounding in the principles and practice of finance and develop the understanding of the tools necessary to make good financial decisions. You will learn to evaluate risk and apply its portfolio theory; appraise risk and construct risk-minimizing portfolios, and examine and critique different practices in capital budgeting.

    Climate change is no longer hypothetical. Scientific evidence is clear about the fact that temperatures are rising at an unprecedented rate and that it is most likely due to human activity since the mid-20th century. To be able to limit the increase in global average temperature to 2°C above pre-industrial levels at most, all industries will have to make investment decisions that will alter the current path. Delaying emissions reductions will lead to long-lasting implications. This course will lay the foundations for the development of solutions in the financial industry.

    Financial Econometrics is an interdisciplinary subject that uses statistical and computational methods together with economic theory to address quantitative problems in Finance. This course introduces some of the statistical tools commonly employed by practitioners and academics working with financial data. By starting from real-world financial applications, the course offers a solid understanding of econometrics allowing you to apply their knowledge beyond the problems and examples analyzed. A significant part of the course will be devoted to the applications of the techniques learned on real-world datasets using the statistical software “R”. An introduction to the software “R” is provided at the beginning of the course. The tools learned in this course will constitute the necessary basis to understand the topics of more advanced courses such as Advanced Econometrics, Machine Learning, and Data Science...

    This course develops the basic principles of portfolio construction, as well as asset pricing, and introduces to the fundamentals of risk and performance measurement in an asset management context. Students will be able to build investment portfolios, conduct an empirical analysis of investment strategies, and evaluate risk and performance measures. You will implement different data-gathering techniques and methodologies to build investment portfolios. You will learn how to estimate and test asset pricing models, as well as to test the efficiency of financial markets and to assess the performance of portfolio strategies.
    To attend this module, you’ll need to have attended the corporate finance and asset markets or an equivalent course. The knowledge of fundamentals of linear algebra and a basic one of Excel are also mandatory.

    The course trains students in reading, analyzing, and interpreting financial reports and financial accounting data. It provides an overview of financial accounting concepts and practices, including a firm’s balance sheet, income statement, cash flow statement, equity statement, and disclosure notes. It aims at showing students how to read, prepare, analyze, and interpret financial reports and financial accounting data in a globalized environment under International Financial Reporting Standards, and also how to perform intercorporate investments and consolidations. In the second part, students will learn how to value companies using the most widely used approaches in the financial community (DCF and Comparables).

    This course will give you the basic knowledge and understanding about the main financial institutions (central banks, regulating bodies, etc.) and the main financial markets (stocks, bonds, currencies, etc.

    Bloomberg Market Concepts (BMC) is a 10-hour, self-paced e-learning course that provides an interactive introduction to the financial markets. BMC consists of 5 modules - Economic Indicators, Currencies, Fixed Income, Equities, and Getting Started on the Terminal - woven together from Bloomberg data, news, analytics, and television.

    This course is designed to give you the basic skills needed to properly use the computers on the campus. You will learn how to use Windows and the French keyboard; Blackboard, Aurion, and the basics of Excel and Matlab.

    Once the basics of excel are obtained, this course will offer you a whole new range of tools to enhance your performance and allow you to create dynamic user-oriented interfaces. The overall understanding of Excel’s mechanics will be greatly enhanced.

    The course aims to develop selected managerial skills using an action-learning and blended classroom approach.

    If you wish to graduate with a competitive advantage in the US financial career market, then the EDHEC double degree agreement with MIT Sloan School of Management is the obvious choice. 

    The Master of Finance programme can be completed in 12 or 18 months and can replace the Master 2 year at EDHEC.

    In addition to their EDHEC Master in Management, some students will also have the opportunity to earn a Master of Financial Engineering degree at the Haas School of Business, University of California, Berkeley.

    The Stanford Summer Session /International Honors Program (SIHP) combines top-notch teaching with cultural, social, and geographical activities. As an EDHEC Master 1 student you can study on the Palo Alto campus, for 8 weeks. A large set of courses are available in topics such as Innovation, Data Management, Verbal Communication, and economics. Upon completion of the required courses, you will receive a Stanford SIS Certificate.

    A dedicated team organises numerous training and recruitment events, on- and off-campus, to prepare you for challenging international recruitment processes and to help you network with potential employers.

    The EDHEC Master in Management degree is a level 7 qualification (Bac +5) jointly awarded by the French State which confers the Grade Master. This degree is certified by the CNCP (Commission Nationale de la Certification Professionnelle) under the RNCP registration code 25332.

    EDHEC offers various scholarships & financial aids based on merit and financial need of the student. The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs also offers a large number of grants and scholarships. Lastly, students accepted to EDHEC are entitled to apply for private loans to cover the cost of their tuition fees.

    The EIFFEL Scholarship offers financial support to high-achieving international candidates. It awards about €1200 per month. The scholarship is financed and managed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development

    The International Students Office (ISO) assists students to settle in smoothly in France by organising orientation events and multicultural seminars to welcome international students to EDHEC Campuses in Lille and Nice. The team guides students with administrative procedures before their arrival and during their stay and answers all questions about French systems (medical and home insurances, banks, resident permits, etc.).

    Do you accept scanned documents?

    • Yes, you can make scanned colour copies of the documents required.

    Should the application file and the two recommendation letters be typed or written freehand?

    • Recommendation letters: our templates can be used or written freehand.

    Will the International Admissions’ team contact the referees to send the letters of recommendation?

    • No, referees should email their letters of recommendation directly to international.admissions@edhec.edu using their professional email. Emails from personal accounts such as yahoo, gmail, hotmail, etc. will not be accepted.

    Will my referees receive an automatic confirmation when they send the letters by email?

    • No, no automatic email will be sent to your referees. Please inform them that they should expect to receive an email confirmation later from the Admissions’ team.
    • Please note that you will be copied to this email as well to acknowledge the good reception of the letters of recommendation.

    Will I have an interview with the Programme Manager?

    • There is no direct interview with the Programme Manager for students applying for our MIM or MSc programmes unless the Programme Director thinks it is necessary.

    How is the Online interview conducted?

    • Once your online application is complete, the International Admissions Team will send you a link to take your online interview in English. It is a series of 6 questions on your motivation, your interest in the programme, your previous experiences (professional, group work…). There is no right or wrong answer. You will have a practice session before you start the interview. Once the interview is done, it will be sent along with your application file to the Selection Committee.

    Can I apply for more than one programme?

    • It is possible to apply for two programmes.  A separate motivation letter is required for each programme.

    What is the difference between the MIM and MSc?

    • The EDHEC Master in Management is a 2-year academic programme designed for students under 29 seeking to increase their general management skills. Also known as "Grande Ecole", the programme awards students a double degree: Master in Management degree and Master of Science diploma. After your Master 1 year, you will have the opportunity to acquire professional experience for a full year or may opt for a 6-month exchange at a partner university.
    • Our MSc are specialised programmes accessible to students who wish to acquire new knowledge in a specific field or further strengthen their existing expertise.

    Is there any help for students on campus regarding housing?

    • Once officially enrolled, you will be assisted to find suitable accommodation either in the EDHEC residence or in privately owned flats. EDHEC's International Office is familiar with the VISA formalities of most countries and will provide you with the necessary papers. You may contact the International Office to express your concerns about your visa application, provided you have already checked the necessary pages on the Welcome Guide and contacted your local Embassay first. One of the requirements for most VISA applications is proof of accommodation in France. Again the international Office is on hand to provide you with a list of apartments, halls of residence and other types of housing according to your criteria. You can even "visit" them virtually using our new Housing website. The team will do everything they can to make arrangements with the owner and secure your reservation. It will also pick you up from the airport on your day of arrival (when possible) and take you directly to your new home.

    Is GMAT compulsory?

    • The GMAT test is compulsory for most of EDHEC Master programmes. Please check the “Admissions Requirements” of your programme of interest to confirm whether the exam is required.

    Why is GMAT compulsory for most of our programmes?

    • EDHEC is accredited EQUIS, AASCSB and AMBA. We are obliged to maintain high quality among students and the GMAT is a good measure of this quality.

    Can I add an unofficial GMAT score report to my application file?

    • You will get an unofficial score report immediately after the test and which you should send to the admissions office. This document will provisionally be accepted in your application file.

     

    EDHEC offers scholarships and financial aid to candidates with excellent profiles. External financial aid is also available to EDHEC applicants.

    What is the EIFFEL Scholarship?

    • The EIFFEL Scholarship programme offers financial support to high-potential candidates of over € 1000 per month. Applications for the EIFFEL Scholarship need to be submitted to EDHEC before December 1st.


    When the tuition fees must be paid?

    • Once accepted by the Selection Committee, you will receive by email a tuition fees payment's schedule. You must make your first payment in order to secure your seat into the programme and get your enrolment letter.

    How does financial aid apply to the tuition fees?

    • Financial aid applies to the second and third instalment for the MSc programme and to the second, third and fourth instalment for the MIM programme.

     

    What is the EDHEC Career Center?

    • The Student Career Centre is dedicated to helping students find a job or an internship. The Centre receives every year over 14 000 job and internship offers.

    Complementary courses in French are offered to all international students enrolled in our MSc programmes. Our French classes cover all learning levels, from complete beginner to advanced study. The goal is to support your acculturation to French culture and give you the linguistic foundation—grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and listening—to express yourself in the French language.
