The MSc in Finance is an advanced and comprehensive programme constructed to give you competency in all key corporate finance and financial markets topics. The programme is specifically designed for graduates and young professionals, with prior training in a numerate discipline, who wish to pursue an international career in Finance.

The MSc in Finance is a CFA Program Partner and closely follows the CFA level 1 exam curriculum. Completion of the MSc in Finance will prepare you to sit for the CFA Level 1 exam.

This course explains why capital markets exist, their importance and the extent of their influence in the global economy. You will learn about the different markets, money markets, debt capital markets, equity capital markets, and explores how they function.
The course covers the stages of money creation, as well as the role of central banks in the economic puzzle. It will address the twin questions of risk and return, as well as the effects of growing regulation.


The objective of this course is to expand your knowledge of the role of financial managers in today's corporate environment. The course focuses on the financial decisions that affect the long-run performance and value of an enterprise. You will learn about the principle of value maximization and be given a framework for formulating sound financial decisions.


This course is designed to give you knowledge of several quantitative methods applied in empirical finance, by both academics and practitioners, as well as the financial econometrics behind them. You will study realistic examples and solve problems in Matlab (or Excel-VBA). Although this course is designed to be empirical, the theory underlying the topics will be extensively discussed.


This is a foundation course focusing on the interpretation and the logic of financial statements in order to be able to assess the financial performance of a company. You will learn the new direction given to standards by the IFRS Board, following the financial crisis, and the move toward integrated reporting.


This course will give you the technical background, knowledge and training to value companies. The objective is to ensure a strong command of valuation methods and techniques as they are applied by finance professionals and financial experts. You will learn both the commonalities and differences of all valuation methods, as well as their advantages and issues. The Valuation methods covered in the course include DCF, comparables, restated net worth, and some of the more popular alternative approaches. 


This course provides the basic concepts of Derivatives trading and pricing. You will learn the common principles of Derivatives; their uses, how their contracts are designed, and their pricing.
At the end of the course, the you will know how a derivatives exchange works; what are the main differences between an exchange and the OTC; what are derivatives useful for; what is a forward contract and how it is priced; what is a futures contract and how it is priced; what is an option and what can we do with options; and finally, how a market maker manages a book.


The course provides a solid understanding of the most important fixed-income products, their purpose, how to price them and of how to hedge them. You will learn what affects the price of these instruments; how to build a discount curve given a set of bond prices; and how to calculate descriptive statistics for bonds and swaps. At completion of the course, you will be able to understand and implement active and passive trading strategies; price important fixed-income instruments; and manage their main risk attributes.


The focus of this course is on international corporate finance. Differences in institutional characteristics have recently been shown to be key determinants of how corporations are owned and valued, as well as how they raise capital and give it back to investors. You will learn how financial contracts are written around the world and how these contracts affect basic corporate policies. 
This course, we will analyse: (1) What are best corporate governance practices?; (2) How are corporations owned?; (3) How can we understand Mergers and Acquisitions?;  (4) How do firms determine their pay-out policies; (5) What is the role of financial contracting in mitigating opportunistic behaviour?; and (6) How do firms finance themselves  across countries?

 


This course will introduce you to the theory and application of consolidated financial statement.  You will learn to analyse important concepts of financial analysis and the management of international groups. Completion of this course will allow you to prepare the main consolidated financial statements, balance sheet and income statement, following an IAS/IFRS approach, using full consolidation method, equity method, and proportionate consolidation method. 


Drawing on the expertise developed at the Edhec Risk Institute, this course equips you with the technical and conceptual tools to take an active role in portfolio management. You will be given a detailed introduction to the modern approach of portfolio management. You will learn why the latest thinking, advocates for a clear separation between the management of normal returns (a.k.a. betas) emanating from exposure to rewarded sources of risk and the management of abnormal returns (a.k.a. alphas) emanating from an active managers’ unique expertise to generate excess return above and beyond the risks taken.


This course will give you an integrated view of international financial markets and the management of multinational firms. The focus will be on the markets for spot exchange, currency forwards, options, swaps, international bonds, and international equities. You will learn the valuation of instruments traded in each of these markets, and the application of these instruments to the following corporate decisions: managing exposure to exchange rates and country risk; financing in international capital markets; and cross-border valuation in the presence of multiple currencies, international tax regulations, and sovereign risk. The course will not cover topics in international macroeconomics, international trade, and international business.


This course is designed to provide you with the skills necessary to conceptualise, implement, and manage the strategy and associated operations of treasuries of multinational corporations and financial institutions. You will learn the role and organisation of treasury operations as well as practical challenges of measuring and managing currency and interest rate risks faced by banks and multinational corporations when investing or raising capital in foreign countries. The course covers the concepts of estimating cost of capital for foreign investments and the effects of foreign exchange movements on global cash flow and portfolio risk management. Additional topics include management of securitisation and structured finance transactions.

This seminar aims at building cultural awareness and developing the cognitive and behavioural abilities to communicate effectively across cultures particularly for students pursuing careers in finance. You will gain practical experience with diversity by working in international teams.

This course introduces you to the powerful software tools, MS Excel and VBA, commonly used by professionals in the financial industry to develop simple or sophisticated models.   You will learn to use MS Excel functionalities that are most relevant for building transparent intermediate and advanced level models. The VBA instruction will enable you to build user-defined functions and also process automation. 

Matlab 
The course focuses on how to use MATLAB to manipulate, analyse and summarise matrices of financial data.  The applications examined include a wide variety of popular financial models and techniques.  You will learn to confidently conduct financial research with MATLAB on your own and use MATLAB at work or in your other EDHEC courses.

Admission to the EDHEC Master programmes is highly selective. EDHEC offers various scholarships & financial aids based on merit and financial need of the student. The French Ministry of Foreign and European Affairs also offers a large number of grants and scholarships. Lastly, students accepted to EDHEC are entitled to apply for private loans to cover the cost of their tuition fees.

The EIFFEL Scholarship offers financial support to high-achieving international candidates. It awards about €1200 per month. The scholarship is financed and managed by the French Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Development

What's the difference between the MiM and MSc?

  • The EDHEC Master in Management is a 2-year programme designed for students under 29 seeking to increase their general management skills. Also known as "Grande Ecole", the programme awards students a double degree: Year 1: Master in Management degree and Year 2: Master of Science degree
  • Our MSc are specialised programmes accessible to students who wish to acquire a new knowledge in a specific field or further strengthen their existing expertise.


Is there any help for students on campus regarding housing?

  • Once officially enrolled, you will be assisted to find a suitable accommodation either in the EDHEC residence or in privately owned flats. You will also have access to our Blackboard system in which you will find much needed information to prepare your move to France. EDHEC's International Office is familiar with the VISA formalities of most countries and will provide you with the necessary papers. You may contact the International Office to express your concerns about your visa application, provided you have already checked the necessary pages on the Welcome Guide and contacted your local Embassay first. One of the requirements for most VISA applications is proof of accommodation in France. Again the international Office is on hand to provide you with a list of apartments, halls of residence and other types of housing according to your criteria. You can even "visit" them virtually using our new Housing website. The team will do everything they can to make arrangements with the owner and secure your reservation. It will also pick you up from the airport on your day of arrival (when possible) and take you directly to your new home.

Is GMAT compulsory?

  • The GMAT test is compulsory. Applicants with a solid work experience may apply for a waiver. However, GMAT waivers remain exceptional.

Why is GMAT compulsory?

  • EDHEC is accredited EQUIS, AASCSB and AMBA. We are obliged to maintain high quality among students and the GMAT is a good measure of this quality.

Can I add an unofficial GMAT score report to my application file?

  • You will get an unofficial score report immediately after the test and which you sould send to the admissions office. This document will provisionally be accepted in your application file.

Can I send the application file and sit the GMAT later?

  • Yes, but you do need to indicate the test date that you have set in your application file In this case, your application file will be kept in a waiting file until receipt of your scores.

EDHEC offers scholarships and financial aid to candidates with excellent profiles. External financial aid is also available to EDHEC applicants.

What is the EIFFEL Scholarship?

  • The EIFFEL Scholarship programme offers financial support to high-potential candidates of over € 1000 per month. Applications for the EIFFEL Scholarship need to be submitted to EDHEC before December 1st.


When the tuition fees must be paid?

  • Once accepted by the Selection Committee, you will receive by email a tuition fees payment's schedule. You must make your first payment in order to secure your seat into the programme and get your enrolment letter.

How does the financial aid apply to the tuition fees?

  • Financial aid applies to the second and third instalment for the MSc programme and to the second, third and fourth instalment for the MIM programme.

What is the EDHEC Career Center?

  • The Student Career Centre is dedicated to help students find a job or an internship. The Centre receives every year over 14 000 job and internship offers.

Complementary courses in French are offered to all international students enrolled in our MSc programmes. Our French classes cover all learning levels, from complete beginner to advanced study. The goal is to support your acculturation to French culture and give you the linguistic foundation—grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and listening—to express yourself in the French language.
