You will complete three of these five foundational courses online in the July-August period. Depending on your background, the Selection Committee may require you to take specific classes or you may choose three courses from this list.

The objective of this course is to provide you with a solid grounding in the principles and practice of finance and to develop your understanding of the tools necessary to make good financial decisions. This module aims to provide you with knowledge and understanding of key management issues in corporate finance and the market for financial assets.

This course is a combination of two modules through EDHEC’s’ Online unit: Basics of Statistics and Introduction to Coding with R. We strongly recommend completing the modules in parallel, taking a week for each.

The Basics of Statistics module presents the basic principles of statistical data analysis (description, estimating, testing), as well as the most common statistical methods, such as linear regression.

The Introduction to Coding with R module

introduces R, a standard and powerful programming language well suited to data analysis, its objects and syntax
presents Anaconda and RStudio, two user-friendly working environments for R
presents selected built-in functions that perform common tasks.

The course is designed to provide you with an overview of the foundations of financial accounting, with a practical focus on financial statement analysis and the valuation of public organisations. These foundations are deemed necessary in order for students to successfully pursue their course studies at Master's level.

The purpose of this course is to provide you with a fundamental knowledge of marketing and to demonstrate the key role marketing plays in any organisation. You will gain a better understanding of what marketing is and its role in the firm, as well as the process of value creation from the perspective of customers, producers and society at large. You will learn how to mix various marketing tools and techniques in a coherent manner.

This course’s primary objective is to help you answer several important strategic questions for companies or organisations, such as: What business will we be in? How to compete for resources and create value? How to organise for and assess performance? The course focuses on the complex and multidimensional nature of strategic decision-making.

Our teaching methods are aimed to give you the core competencies necessary to compete in a complex and competitive business environment. You will learn to deepen your analytical thinking, develop practical skills, and design creative strategies for business success.

Our methodology includes:

♦  Core curriculum

  • Embraces the latest technology
  • Responds to trends in the market
  • Co-developed with leading business partners

♦  Blended learning

  • Tutorials
  • Lectures
  • Workshops
  • Seminars

♦  Applied learning

  • Business Games
  • Case Studies
  • Entrepreneurship Projects

♦  Personal performance coaching

  • Interviewing strategies
  • Teamwork development
  • Intercultural communication skills

Nowadays, data-driven decision-making is the dominant paradigm of the marketing industry. Advanced theories of psychology are the most powerful tool in a marketer’s arsenal for describing, interpreting and, most importantly, making educated predictions of consumer behaviour. You will be exposed to the classic, current and advanced theories of psychology needed to make sense of data. This course will also enable you to conceptualise real-world questions of consumer behaviour and use experimental methods to address those questions that lend themselves to experimentation. You will learn about topics such as perception, perceptual and sensory issues, memory, information processing, motivation and attitudes, choice and decision-making, moods and emotions, (mis-)prediction and intertemporal issues, goals and goal-directed behaviour.

You will be offered an introduction to quantitative marketing research data analysis. Following a recap of the fundamentals of statistics, the course will take you step by step through the major analysis methods used in making marketing decisions, such as variance, regression and cluster analysis. Eventually, you will learn how to interpret the results and propose appropriate solutions.

You will gain an in-depth understanding of EU data protection law, with a particular focus on the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR). You will learn to master the key concepts through practical case studies, while tackling the practical and problematic interplay of topics such as intellectual property law, database protection and consumer protection.

If marketers and practitioners want to take their marketing analytics to the next level, Python is the way to go. Python is a widely used general-purpose, high-level programming language designed with an emphasis on code readability. Its syntax allows programmers to express concepts in just a few lines of code. Recently, the software has seen growing success in the business world. You will learn how to use Python to improve marketing automation with in-built modules and data analytics.

Data visualisation is prompting a shift towards more data-driven marketing decisions. In this context, marketing professionals should not only be able to analyse and explore data, but also able to visually convey findings to leverage relevant information. Using practical and real-life applications, you will learn about the fundamental concepts of data visualisation using the widely used and popular Tableau software.

You will gain a better understanding of the ethical issues surrounding business and the economy, more particularly as they relate to marketing. You will learn the practical implementation of ethical standards in marketing by analysing controversial marketing campaigns and studying innovative, ethically sound initiatives. Upon completion of the course, you will have developed a real understanding of the types of ethical issues encountered in marketing and both company and consumer responses to them, which will help you resolve key issues and specific marketing-ethics problems.

The digital marketing trifecta is based on earned media, paid media and owned media, each pillar raising its own questions and opportunities in an era of user-generated content. How to gain more exposure to web properties with search-engine optimisation (SEO) and pay per click (PPC)? How to leverage media for a comprehensive marketing strategy? How to advertise using PPC? How to pay influencers? How to share reviews? Mentions? Reports? In addition the planning of social media marketing strategies and communications, you will gain a solid understanding of how to optimise the management and coordination of social media channels and gain insights into the technical side.

The current era of user-generated content offers limitless opportunities for customer management practitioners. When building its customer management strategy, a company should aim for personalised, ever-evolving and lasting relationships. By taking this course, you will learn about the concepts of customer relationship management (CRM), customer acquisition and retention and customer experience management. You will also learn how customer-related data can help to build customer management strategies.

An essential methodological element of contemporary marketing analytics is the quantitative analysis of textual data. You will be introduced to the concepts, techniques and uses of text mining, text analysis and natural language processing in the contexts of marketing and word-of-mouth marketing. The course will also cover analysis of user-generated content (UGC), such as product reviews or the reactions of consumers or influencers on social networks, as well as how to gather textual customer intelligence. You will learn how to collect, analyse and interpret textual data and extract actionable marketing insights from that analysis.

Revenue management, or yield management, is all about maximising revenue through the combined, effective management of a firm’s pricing strategy, inventory control and availability control. As we have moved into the era of Big Data, revenue management has become a field of application for disciplined analytics that predict consumer behaviour to optimise product pricing, availability, and profit growth.

Over the past two decades, political, social, and technological developments have disrupted the strategic business landscape in almost every country around the world. There is an ongoing paradigm shift towards a more service-dominant, digital, and global economy. As a result, future managers are confronted with an increased need to justify their trade-offs in the managerial decision-making process. Business research can be defined as a systematic inquiry that provides information for managerial decision-making. As a future manager, you will need to understand how effective business research can provide high-quality information to improve managerial decision-making. The business research process is a sequential process based on scientific methods and allows future managers to understand, evaluate and conduct research to improve managerial decision-making.

Again, the ISO is on hand to provide you with a list of apartments, halls of residence and other types of housing, depending on your criteria. You can even "visit" them virtually on our new housing website. The team will do everything it can to make arrangements with the property owner and secure your booking. It can also pick you up from the airport on the day of your arrival (where possible) and take you directly to your new home.
