Meet a student: “I chose EDHEC for its excellent reputation in Finance”

Why did you choose to join EDHEC?

I was planning to study in Europe before I applied and I knew that French business schools are well-known in the world, especially the top five. The key reason that led me to EDHEC is its excellent reputation in the financial field.

Why did you choose the Master in Management programme?

The most attractive thing about the MiM programme is that we have a gap year for internships, which can help us experience real "professional life" in advance. This will play an important role in our job search after graduation.

In addition, after finishing the basic study of the first year, we can choose a Master of Science for further study in the second year according to our own interests/career planning. In my opinion, this is a very logical plan.

Plus, the finance masters are located at the Nice campus, and I can see a beautiful sea view every day!

What is the teaching method and content of your master's programme?

Teaching methods are diverse, including classrooms, seminars, skills workshops, etc.

In the first year, the content of learning is mainly based on basic courses -finance, investment, programming, etc., but the pace is quite intense.

Have you exchanged with faculty and staff? What did you guys talk about?

In addition to academic exchanges with the lecturer, I have talked to the French teacher in charge. Since I have never studied French before, I really want to strengthen my French study outside of class time.

Our French teacher told us that, in our spare time, we can also participate in the weekly activities of the language lab (in addition to French, EDHEC also provides classes in other languages), and we can learn and talk with local French students to improve our French.

Have you met students from different countries through classroom interaction and other activities?

I have met new classmates. All of them are friendly and willing to talk with you, and many of them are very interested in China. So as long as you dare to take the first step and take the initiative to communicate, you will meet many interesting people!

What is your impression of the Nice campus?

I like the city of Nice very much. You can see the beautiful sea view every day on the way to and from school. The school is located next to the airport, so there is an open view of the landscape; the facilities on campus are very complete, which can fully meet our daily learning needs.

Do you feel comfortable living and studying in France?

In the first few days, you will be a little confused and uncomfortable, but when you encounter difficulties, many local people will be very happy to help you. For example, when I bought something and found out that the cashier could not speak English, the enthusiastic citizens of Nice tried their best to translate for me into English.

What are your plans for the future?

I hope to find my ideal job in the financial field (especially the investment industry) after graduation.

What advice do you have for students who want to apply for your major?

During the application stage, I have been paying attention to the latest information about the school (Weibo/WeChat official account/EDHEC’s official website/ChaseDream forum) and joined the 2022 application group on WeChat, from which I can get the latest admissions information

For non-business students: you can boldly apply for the MiM programme without worrying about the lack of relevant learning/internship experience.

For business students: for students who want to work in the finance field, I think the MiM programme is quite ideal – Not only will it help you strengthen your expertise in finance, but you will also have a year of internship to gain professional experience and network resources for a formal job search.
